Magnesium-based seawater method is the independent innovation of the joint scientific research team of Weihai Puyi Marine Enviromental Technology Co.,Ltd (Hereinafter referred to as Puyi) and Dalian Maritime University, which is based on the land-based magnesium-based desulfurization method and combines with seawater method.

The magnesium-based seawater method ship EGC desulfurization device can ensure the indexes of exhaust gas after desulfurization, the content of SOx in the desulfurized exhaust gas is lower than that in the combusted fuel of 0.1%m/m sulphur content. All the quality indexes of the washing water after exhaust gas treatment can meet the emission requirements of IMO. The system can meet the above technical data and meanwhile ensure the machine safe and operation stably. We have formed a group of independent patents of exhaust gas desulfurization system, which filled the blanks of the domestic technology. Puyi is the first enterprise in China which obtained the principles certification of China Classification Society (CCS), AIP of Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (LR), AIP of Bureau Veritas (BV), Statement of Compliance certificate of BV, Certificate of Works Approval of BV (Recognition for BV Mode Ⅱ Scheme).

Until now has designed more than 50 sets of ship’s diesel desulfurization system.

The main ship exhaust gas desulfurization technologies are: Seawater method, alkaline method, CSNOx system, magnesium-based seawater method and hybrid system.

Installation On-board


In 2011, the first EGCS had been installed 10,000Nm3/h air volume exhaust gas desulfurization device on COSCO BINGHE; Acquired supports from Ministry of Industry and Information on the high technology research project of ship in 2012; Mastered the key technologies of high-efficiency &low-resistivity desulfurization technological process, high-efficiency production process of highly active desulfurization agent and harmless disposal of waste washing water, and passed the technical review of Ministry of Communications in June; Installed 50,000Nm3/h air volume exhaust gas desulfurization device on COSCO LINGYUNHE in 2014, the emission standards of SOx and washing water met the requirements of the International Conventions.
